Mixing Prints!

If you know me, you’ll know that I think matching is overrated. An outfit can look great and put together even if it doesn’t match. I always say that pieces can not necessarily match, but they work well together. As long as the right balance of prints, colors, and textures is used, anything can look good.!

The first step to achieving a look with mixed prints, is to have a base color and consistent tone that is in both of the prints you want to use to ensure you have a cohesive look. The next step is knowing that the proportion of the prints is important. Mix large prints with smaller, busy prints for a great contrast. Pattern size can create illusions making a part of the body appear larger that it actually is. To avoid this, add a belt or sash in a solid color to create a “resting spot” for the eye; this breaks up the prints a little while accentuating the waist.

You just have to be a little daring and confident in your look and you’ll look AMAZING! Confidence is key!
