Being able to fit as many clothes as possible into your closet while keeping it organized is a daunting task. A few things that I have read about and tried have really worked out for me. One of them is to use thin velvet-flocked hangers. These keeps your clothes from falling off of the hangers and the thinness of them create more room for more clothes to fit. I have an open closet, so I purchased a couple of garment racks to house all of the my hanging clothes.
My clothing is organized in categories such as professional wear and casual. Then these are divided into subcategories like dresses, pants, and shirts. From there I have everything color coordinated. It took some time to organize my closet in this way, but it makes it easier and quicker when deciding what to wear especially for those moments when I need to figure out an outfit in a hurry.
To keep my shoes organized, I purchased a couple bookshelves. Putting one shoe in front of the other helps to maximize space and fit more pairs on a shelf. These bookshelves are stackable too so that is helpful. I have my heels in one section, flats in another, and my boots are all to the side of the bookshelves. It used to annoy me when my tall boots would always lean over to the sides, so I found boot supports on Amazon to keep them upright. Another trick I have seen done is so cut swimming noodles and put them in the boots. This way your boots will retain their shape and look nice while they sit in your closet.
I hope these tips are useful to organize your closets a little more and figure out what are effective ways for you! 🙂
