We’re stuck in limbo between Winter and Spring right now, so you might as well take this time to get your closets ready for the forthcoming Spring (whenever it finally arrives)!
I’m so excited to see some of these trends popping up that are great transitions into the warmer weather ahead. They are perfect for adding layers while it’s still cool out, and just peel those layers back as we head into Spring/Summer 2019.
First on the list, snake print! If you normally where an animal print such as leopard or zebra, this is a great alternative print to try. There are so many different color ways with it creating many options. Your look can be as bold or as subtle as you want with this print. Snake print leggings with a chunky sweater and cute booties is a great option while the temps are still pretty low. You can swap that sweater out for a chic graphic tee and denim jackets when the sun is shining a bit brighter.
Next up, utility dressing! That’s right, jumpsuits, belted trousers, and a mix between safari and military style jackets will be seen everywhere. These outfits will be very useful when you’re out-and-about and don’t want to carry a bag; you’ll have plenty of pockets to place your essentials. Some affordable brands already showing pieces in this trends are Gap, Old Navy, and Abercrombie. Check out this jumpsuit from A&F and the style inspiration from Coach, Givenchy and Fendi.
Another trend that I’m personally looking forward to is bike shorts; they’re not just for working out. With so many different prints and fabrics used for this trend, these shorts can be dressed up for going out or more casual for shopping trips or galavanting around the town with some friends. A lot of times, they can be used as a substitute for jeans or leggings when its warmer outside, or depending on the fabric they can be subbed out for a skirt like pictured below from Jacquemus in the middle.
Mixing prints is always a great idea (when done right)! I love love looovveee mixing prints. I’ve posted about it before, but I just can’t get enough. It’s so exciting seeing the mix of different prints and colors all tied together into one look. This scarf print trend for the Spring makes it easy to achieve these looks by most of the garments already mixing prints/colors in one piece. The guess work has already been done for you so you don’t have to ask “Do these prints look good together?”.
Finally, another big trend we’ll see this coming season is statement feathers. This isn’t entirely new, we’ve been seeing more feathers in the past couple of years in fashion. But this time there will be a lot more of it. Some is a little more subtle and can be worn in everyday settings, while other styles you may want to hold off for that special occasion coming up. The easiest way to incorporate this trend would be with a vest or jacket similar to the Tom Ford one seen below, or with accessories such as a necklace or earrings with feathers on them.
So there are a few of the trends for this Spring/Summer season. There are a bunch more such as neons, ruffles/layers/frills, and head-to-toe neutrals, to name a few. Let me know what your favorites are and how you plan to incorporate them into your wardrobe!
