Autumn is my favorite season. I love when the leaves change, it’s just so beautiful. I also love when the weather get a little cooler and I can layer sweaters over some of my summer outfits and still be comfortable wearing skirts without my legs freezing. This is also a great time to get in some of those outdoor dates in before the snow starts to touch down. Here are some of my favorites and some that are on my list this Fall.
Corn Maze: I’ve been wanting to do a corn maze forever! They make my think of Jim Henson’s Labyrinth or of course the maze as the final task of the Tri-Wizard Tournament in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Wander through the maze together until you make it to the other side.
Hike: A little adventure, a little (or a lot of) exercise, and beautiful views all wrapped into a nice date. Just make sure you’re prepared! We (accidentally) went on a SIX MILE hike during my best friend’s bachelorette party and we were not ready for all of that. I’m surprised, and glad, none of us passed out. We definitely didn’t eat enough before the hike and I had more like a 2 mile hike in mind, not 6! Nonetheless, it was still nice and the scenery was great (minus the “waterfall” lol. This would be a great group date idea or just you and your significant other, just make sure you plan ahead lol.
Pumpkin Picking: Going to a pumpkin patch to pick out some pumpkins is cause to extend the date for when you get home. You can either carve or paint the pumpkins and use them to decorate your front porch or steps.
Apple Picking: Apple orchards are one of my faves, probably because I like to pick apples to bake with and grab some delicious cider to make Apple Margaritas (or drink alone). I also like to practice my juggling skills with the apples lol.
Winery/Vineyard: I don’t think it’s any secret that I really like wine. Grabbing a glass and walking around a vineyard can be a great way to unwind on the weekend. Try some new wines because you may be surprised with what you may like that you didn’t think you would. Initially, I didn’t like drier wines, especially dry reds, but now I’ve found a few that I keep in stock at home.
Road trip: I mentioned before that I love when the leaves change colors. Taking a road trip or even just going for a drive through areas with a lot of trees will give you some great views of the fall foliage. Choose a place that’s not too far, maybe 2 hours away, and you can find some things to do there, maybe something else from this list. If where you chose isn’t too far, you could either go back home, or make it a little weekend getaway and stay a night at a hotel.
Coffee (or Hot Chocolate) Date: Find a local coffee shop, get a drink and relax a little. Shake it up a little bit and order a drink for the other person to try so that you both end up with a new drink to try, who knows, it might end up being one of your go to’s. Maybe take a walk around the neighbor after you get your drinks.
Backyard Fire Pit: Chill out one evening and relax in the backyard, make a fire, and of course s’mores are a must. You may want to grab a blanket in case it gets a little chilly as the sun sets. You could even go to a park during the day and have a small picnic with a charcuterie board and wine.
Bake together: So baking is one of my favorite things to do. I’m always looking up new recipes to try and this could be something fun to do together. You can either do a tried and true recipe, look up a new one to tag team on, or even do a bake off. A little friendly competition is always welcome lol.
Movie Night: These can be themed nights or just any movie your in the mood for. Below are some Halloween/Fall themed movies to watch during this time and a lot of them are showing on TV throughout this month. It’s a big plus if you can get a projector in the backyard with some lawn chairs, blow up sofa, blankets, etc. You could invite a few friends over for Halloween and dress up in one of these last minute costumes.
- Any Harry Potter movie: or do a marathon, but maybe break it up over a few days or a couple weekends. I had a Harry Potter Marathon earlier this year and it was just under 20 hours long, so you for sure need to be prepared if you want to watch them all back to back.
- Hocus Pocus
- Halloweentown
- The Addams Family
- Sleepy Hollow
- Sweeney Todd
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- Remember the Titans
- The Blind Side
- The Goonies
- The Witches (starts streaming on HBO Max October 22nd)
Now you’re ready to plan a date for this fall! I can’t wait to check some of these dates off my list with my beau and some of my girls. What are some fall dates you love to do every year? Let’s hear them in the comments below.
