Sweater Weather

We’re officially in sweater season; I’ve seen the first bit of snowfall and I’m not ready at all (the rhyming was completely by happy mistake, swear I didn’t do that on purpose lol)! My capsule wardrobe color palette includes black, white, grey, and camel, so the sweaters I recently purchased fall into that scheme to keep my wardrobe consistent and easy to mix and match many pieces. Having my capsule wardrobe makes it so much easier to get ready for work in the morning because all of my pieces are interchangeable with each other and takes the guess work out of what I’m going to wear. If you want to create a capsule wardrobe for yourself, you can get my e-workbook here to assist you with creating yours for each season or how often you’d like.

A chic, off the shoulder, top or sweater is always a vibe. This Free People top can be manipulated to be off of both shoulders or just one. Since the bottom of the sweater isn’t bulky, it would look good tucked into a skirt with some over-the-knee boots. The fabric is also very soft so I couldn’t help getting this color and black, but it’s available in 8 different colors so check it out!

I don’t always wear animal print, but I like the larger motif on this sweater and the colors fit right in with my capsule wardrobe. This Gianni Bini sweater is very lightweight, so layering over it would be perfect without getting too hot or feeling stuffed with a bulk of fabric.

This is another one of my favorites from BCBG, (sorry, I couldn’t find the link to this one). I love the contrast of the different knitting and the tapered sleeves. Although I have a number of sweaters with wide sleeves, they tend to get in the way while I’m moving around at work, so I prefer a tapered arm. I’ve also just started wearing turtleneck collars over the past couple of years. They used to bother me a lot when I was younger and it felt like I was slowly choking (I know, dramatic much lol). I wear scarves tied around my neck a lot in the Fall/Winter, so I gave turtlenecks another try since the feeling is pretty similar, and it wasn’t so bad 🙂

I love this UGG sweater. It’s so comfortable and cute with the split sides and the pocket. I mostly wear this sweater with leggings or jeans for my casual days. The neckline on this is more of a cowl neck and is very snuggly, kind of gives the feeling of being wrapped up in a blanket all day.

Here’s one of those wide sleeve sweaters I was talking about. It’s definitely a keeper, I just make sure not to wear it on days that I’ll have using my hands and arms a ton. This has a very soft fabric that’s a good (and cheaper) alternative to cashmere.

A classic grey mock neck cashmere sweater is a great Fall/Winter basic. I actually have another very similar sweater to this because I just like the style so much. This sweater can be perfectly paired with a pair of leggings and over-the-knee boots for a simple yet chic look. You can layer with a denim jacket over and a coat when needed.

Thrifting is always a great option to finding some unique pieces that you won’t find anywhere else. I lucked up on this sweater at a consignment shop and it’s one of my absolute favorites. I love the different patterns in it and that it can be styled simply with some black leggings, or spice it up a bit with velvet leggings or a skirt with a pop of color.

Here’s another Free People oversized sweater. With my oversized ones, I like to tuck in a small piece or wear a belt around my waist to still show a little of my shape since I’m so petite. I don’t want all the fabric to take over and I become lost in it. The neckline this sweater is wide enough that it can also be worn off of one shoulder to give a slightly different look.

Start getting your sweaters out now before the snow is here to stay. What styles will you be trying this year? I’d love to see your looks, so don’t forget to tag me @ajiasabre in your pics on Instagram and Facebook!
