The weather’s getting colder, but that doesn’t mean we have to throw our style out the window. There are so many cute and WARM coats and accessories around to keep you trendy without sacrificing warmth; fashion and function can work together perfectly. I recently added a couple new coats to my winter wardrobe and found some hats and scarves to pair with coats I already had. Whether you decide to invest in just one or five, these coats and accessories are bound to turn this chilly season into your chicest season.
When it comes to coats, it can be easy to just go for that basic black one that’s comfortable and warm, but I’m here to encourage you to branch out a bit. Don’t be afraid to play with different colors, patterns, textures, etc. First, I’ll share some of my more classic style/color coats and then transition into the pops of color and different textures.

This is one of my favorite coats. It’s such a staple and looks great with everything from a casual running errands fit to a fancy night out. I love that the fur collar is detachable, so I can completely change the vibe of my outfit. I would say that everyone should have a great quality camel colored coat in their winter wardrobe, it’s very versatile and will last for years. I got this coat about 5 years ago, so I couldn’t find this exact one, but here is a very similar one from the same brand.

Olive green is a great new “neutral” color because pretty much anything you’d wear brown, tan, beige, etc. with, you can substitute olive in its place for a very chic look. This teddy coat style with the texturing has been very popular in last couple of years, but in this color, it gives the style a fresh take. I’ve been alternating a lot between this coat and the camel coat above because they’re both very classic fits and look great with almost everything. And the cold weather accessories to wear with them are endless. This faux fur headband is supper cute and allows me to wear my hair however I want so still look cute in the snow. You can find this coat here.

A black leather coat will always be a classic. Even though this is a lightweight coat, it still manages to keep me warm. I definitely wouldn’t wear this if I expect to be outside for a long period of time though. The diagonal zipper and wide, knit, lapels give this coat such a feminine yet edgy touch that I love. I like to wear this coat for a casual night out or for those days where it’s just a little chilly out with a pair earmuffs, and I keep a pair of gloves in my pockets just in case. Earmuffs are probably my favorite head accessory in the winter because they keep my ears warm without messing up my hair. I also tend to wear my hair in a bun a lot, so it’s perfect for those days when I couldn’t wear a hat if it want to.

This is one of the newer coats I got this year and I just love the plaid pattern and the colors fit so well with my capsule wardrobe. I was looking for a coat with a fun pattern and found this beaut. The style is similar to those “shackets” (shirt + jacket) that are so in right now, but with that extra layer to be suitable for the dropping temps. The detailing of the front pockets, split hem on the sides, and the large buttons really make this coat stand out from other plaid ones.

Now I love a good NorthFace coat or fleece, I have a few of both. These coats are super lightweight, but also super warm. I couldn’t resist this gold coat and love that it has a hood, I don’t have many coats with a hood, so this one was necessary. The faux fur around the hood is detachable, although I always keep it on because it gives some extra warmth. I try to keep a pair of gloves in all of my coats, and this pair is a little thicker than some of my others because I normally wear this coat on those really frigid days.

I don’t think puffer coats will every go away; they keep revamping them in so many different ways. This pink velvet puffer coat was for sure calling my name when I saw it. Even though pink/blush is my favorite color, I don’t really wear it much, but I really liked this coat and wanted a pop of color in my winter wardrobe. Sometimes I’ll wear this coat just as everyday wear, and other times I pull it out when getting all dressed up for date night. It’s perfect for a Valentine’s Day date!

Faux fur is so soft! Whenever I wear it, I tend to keep rubbing my hand over the fabric because it’s so similar to a blanket. This Karl Lagerfeld faux fur coat is a great neutral color and can amp up any outfit. I’ll usually wear my black beret with this coat and leather gloves. Depending on the outfit I’m wearing with this, I may throw on a pair of red leather gloves for an unexpected pop. Faux fur is so fun to add texture into your closet and it doesn’t have to be a coat. There are so many faux fur accessories options like scarves, hats, headbands and more. Adding some of this texture will just add some extra oomph to your winter styling.
