Valentine’s Day is a month away, but don’t forget about your GALintines! I love just hanging out with my friends and catching up, so why not throw in a little party! Celebrating your friendship with some cute decorations, sweet treats, and movies is a nice way to let go and be yourself with your best girls. Planning this doesn’t have to take months or break the bank at all! It took me a couple of weeks to plan and gather everything I needed. I always create a list of what I want to do and what I’ll need so that I can check things off as I go. Galentine’s Day deserves more of a spotlight than it gets, so here is an easy outline to throwing a girls night (or day) to honor the occasion.
Pick a Theme
This helps to come up with decoration ideas, attire, food, etc. Everything is surrounded around the theme, so you want to make sure you figure that out before getting too deep into planning. Since I was planning a for a night-time event, I chose Pajama Chic as the theme and found really cute matching pjs for my best friend and I. Pink, red, and white were the colors I decided on for my theme, so I kept that I mind when picking out decorations. Hop on Pinterest for some inspiration for themes, decor, food, etc!
Decorate
You can go all out on the decorations or keep it simple depending on how you envision your party. I decided to go the simple but cute route this time and found all of my decorations at Target; most of them were $5 and under! Hanging a few strands of garland and adding some fun dice pillows gave my sofa a nice touch without having to decorate too much.
With any party, it’s a must to have a photo backdrop! This fringe backdrop was $5 at Target and was super cute! I already had the letter board, so I just put a cute little message on there and made sure to have props for so photo ops!
Set the Table
Since I used my coffee table, I just decided to have our snacks and treats be the “centerpiece” so as not to completely overcrowd the table. If I would have set things up in the dining room, I’d probably have a pretty bouquet and a few table decorations.
Themed Treats
For this girls night, I went with popcorn, sweet treats, and sparkling grape juice instead of champagne this time. The cotton candy on top of the champagne glasses gave it a really cute touch! I love macarons, so I ordered some from Luna Bakery and my bestie brought some too! I also love to bake, so I made cupcakes and cookies all cutout in different v-day inspired shapes. You could also do a potluck style party so that you don’t have to create a whole spread yourself. A good idea would be to create a google doc sign up that everyone can see and there’s no overlap in food.
Pick a Main Activity
I didn’t want it to be too involved, so I printed out some pages from a digital coloring book I purchased from Addie Rawr and we colored while watching Clueless and talking about everything (living far from your best friend kinda sucks, would not recommend lol)! You could also play games or even do a small gift exchange, really anything that you want to do.
Goodie Bags
Everyone loves to take something home from a great party, so don’t forget the goodie bags! A to-go bag of treats is always a good idea and I also added some super cute Valentine’s day socks that I found at Target, because who doesn’t like cute socks?
Smaller, more intimate get togethers are always great to be able have the whole group interact and have fun without any pressure. I hope this gives you some great ideas to spend some time with your girls next month!
Happy Galentine’s Day from me and my BFF!
